Melvin Lagersson

President & Chief Pilot

Melvin worked at Capital Helicopters for 9 years before his natural ambition and drive saw him purchase the company in the spring of 2020. He is an accomplished pilot, and has spent virtually all of his career flying and working in Yukon's mountainous terrain. In his time at the helm of Capital Helicopters Melvin has more than doubled the fleet, strategically expanding in order to adjust to client demands while still ensuring that the company's well-established, historic customer base is looked after. Melvin is focused on building a strong local business that places an emphasis on customer service and safety.

Laura Vinnedge

Director of Operations

After spending 9 years working in both private industry and non-profit sectors in the Yukon, Laura joined the Capital Helicopters team in early 2018. She has a passion for collaborating directly with customers and clients to help ensure that any flight, big or small, is conducted safely and efficiently. With a field background in mineral exploration and logistics, she is well-placed to answer any questions you may have with respect to planning your next project. When she's not in the office, Laura enjoys hiking, reading, and training and racing her team of sprint sled dogs.

Malcolm Turnbull

Operations Manager

Malcolm began working for Capital Helicopters in 2017, and spent 6 years with the company before leaving to explore new communities and diversify his career. During that time, he flew VFR across Western Canada before moving to the Maritimes. After earning his IFR rating, Malcolm worked in medevac operations, but the pull of the Yukon eventually brought him back to Capital in the fall of 2026. Working alongside Melvin and Laura as he formally steps into the role of Operations Manager, Malcolm will help facilitate Capital’s strategic expansion, strengthen its ability to serve both established and new clients, and support communities across the North. Outside of work, Malcolm enjoys hiking, working out, skiing, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Bryan Johnson

Assistant Chief Pilot

Bryan has built a strong foundation in aviation operations, beginning his career as a teenager working as a dockhand with Osnaburg Airways. Following his passion for aviation, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering from Ryerson University in 2016. Eager to return to the hands-on flying he had enjoyed earlier in his career, Bryan enrolled at Chinook Helicopters and earned his commercial helicopter licence in the spring of 2021. He joined Capital Helicopters as a low-time pilot in July of that year and has since flown throughout the remote, mountainous terrain of Northern Canada. Bryan’s calm demeanour and analytical mindset have made him well suited to Capital’s diverse client base. He also plays an active role in mentoring and supporting fellow pilots, and has become an integral member of the Capital team.

Kim Flament

Pilot

Kim first joined the Capital team in 2018, and has spent the past 15 years flying in the Yukon, Quebec, and on the west coast. He is an extremely talented longline pilot, and is often the person selected to support projects operating in technical or challenging terrain. Kim has flown precision longline work on high-altitude exploration programs, supported wildland firefighting efforts across Canada, served as a specialized instructor in mountain flying and other advanced techniques, and is fluent in French, English and Spanish. Kim is also an avid photographer, and enjoys showcasing the dramatic beauty of the regions where he works and plays (many of the photos you see on this website are his).

Kevin Beamish

Person Responsible for Maintenance Control (PRMC)

Kevin joined the Capital Helicopters team in the fall of 2021, where he quickly found his footing at the helm of our AMO. Kevin was raised in an aviation family, with helicopters never too far away, bringing us generations of experience combined with a youthful passion for excellence. In 2025, Kevin spearheaded the launch of Capital's sister company, Capital Aerospace Corp. He has an endless drive for recreational sports in the mountains with his faithful German Shepherd, Loki, always at his side.

Damon Juss

Pilot & Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Damon joined Capital Helicopters in 2023 and quickly became a company lynchpin, proved himself to be a highly versatile aviator and engineer. Whether moving a drill with a Bell 407, or performing an inspection on one of Capital’s AStar's, he brings skill, dedication and his trademark positivity to every assignment. In his off time, Damon can often be found on a mountaintop—snowmobiling or snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. Away from aviation and outdoor adventures, he is a proud husband and father.

Adam Fox

Pilot

Adam has spent the past 9 years flying a variety of helicopter types throughout the Yukon. In addition to his strong aviation skills, he has a natural aptitude for mechanics. Comfortable taking on nearly any flying assignment, Adam thrives on the camaraderie and teamwork of remote field camps. He has become a strong favourite among Capital’s clients, many of whom regularly go out of their way to request him as a pilot to support their program. Adam owns a collection of “interesting vehicles,” and his curious nature keeps him busy tinkering with and repairing whatever crosses his path. When he isn’t flying or turning wrenches, he can be found making the most of the outdoors or reading historical accounts.

Robert Girard

Pilot

Rob is a seasoned helicopter pilot with more than two decades of flight experience across North America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Europe. He brings extensive geophyical experience with him to better help Capital serve the Yukon's strong mining and exploration clientele. Rob also enjoys supporting Capital’s Haines Junction base, where he appreciates both the challenging high-altitude terrain and the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients. When he isn’t flying in the spectacular northern backcountry, Rob enjoys exploring new experiences with his wife and two children.

Max Skoogh

Pilot

Max arrived in Canada in early 2024, having previously flown in the Swedish Laplands supporting CAT work and reindeer mustering. He has had a keen interest in heavy machinery since he was young, and has operated excavators, tractors, snowcats, etc. On the hunt for a unique challenge, he turned to helicopters, and in a short period of time has become one of Capital's most versatile and talented young pilots. Max has a strong affinity for the mountains, and enjoys backcountry sledding, skiing, hiking - and strong black coffee.

Halle Stasiuk

Bookkeeper

Halle has a degree in Natural Resource Management, but moved into a different career stream at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2022, she decided to pursue a formal education in accounting and subsequently moved up to the Yukon along with her partner, Michael, and their dog Tagish. Halle spent 13 years coaching competitive cheerleading, and recently began coaching gymnastics at the Yukon Gymnastics Center. When not working and volunteering, Halle enjoys exploring the wild natural beauty surrounding their home on Spirit Lake and spending time with her young daughter.

Sandra Herrera

Bookkeeper & Operational Support

Sandy arrived in Canada in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. After a period of exploration and growth, she joined Capital in March of 2025, and quickly proved herself to be a calm, indispensable member of the team. Since then, she has found the direction she had been seeking in her career — a path that truly aligns with her goals and passions. When she's not at work, you can find Sandy hiking or exploring the North with her dog, Dozer, or enjoying a relaxing weekend with friends.

Dominique Veneruz

Pilot & Ground Crew Support

Dom spent six years as a geologist, logging thousands of metres of core, hanging out in drill camps, and conducting till sampling in Ontario and the Yukon before her desire to fly took over. Drawn to the Yukon's mountains and opportunities, she and her partner Ethan quickly settled into the Whitehorse community. She enjoys camping, skiing, hiking, cycling and a good cup of tea, but her favourite past time is taking peaceful car rides with her husky Chief.

Ewan Clemenson

Pilot & Ground Crew Support

Ewan is the most recent pilot to join the Capital Helicopters team. After completing his commercial flight training in Prince George, British Columbia, he set out in search of new adventures. Ewan approaches every job—big or small—with professionalism and a positive attitude. His impressive appetite at lunchtimes is a sure sign of just how hard he works. An avid skier and mountain biker, Ewan enjoys just about anything that gets him airborne. In his spare time, he can often be found fixing up vehicles—and trying his best not to break them.

Fawn McFarland

Administrative Lead

Fawn and her family recently moved to Whitehorse, turning their love of adventure and nature into everyday life. In her search for a company that would provide her with a sense of community and teamwork, she applied at Capital Helicopters. She brings years of experience in office and financial administration, across both public and private sectors, to Capital and is always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and exploring with her family and dogs.
